About Julia

I learned to cook from my mother, as most of us do. Our home was the center of our families life. My Aunts and Uncles and cousins would come practically every sunday and lunch/dinner would be part of the activity. I can remember hearing my mother on the phone making plans for the day. When she was finished, she would tell me what we were having or going to cook or send me to the store. She always cooked for 20 people when 6 were coming. I finally got her away from that when I was responsible for all the cooking. She loved Bon Appetite magazine so we were always trying new things. There was lots of roasting on a sunday - pot roast, chicken, leg of lamb and as we got older lots and lots of grilling. Now that I am a mother, I want to serve healthy, delicious food to my son and family. And I want to expand his culinary horizons. So there are nights of Oven Fried Chicken and then we try a Curried Chicken as well. My style is very home-cooked, no frills, solid, tasty and delicious. You will never find a sprig of cilantro in my kitchen or anywhere near my food. Other than that, the sky's the limit.

What spice defines you, and why?

Rosemary. It's bold and flavorful and pairs well with many different foods.
